*** SYNOPSIS ***

00Z SUNDAY (18-JAN-2015):
1) Steady, moderate E/ESE winds north of 16S.
2) Trades ease and become more patchy south of 16S. This zone will be
filling later in the day to 20S.
3) South Atlantic high becomes a ridge extending from 22S/35W to 30S/18W
to the high center (1027mb) near 37S/4W.
4) A stationary front lies from 36S/22W to 34S/3W and 32S/38W. Strong N
winds off Cabo Frio back to strong NWílies flowing across 30S/30W
north of the front and south of the high pressure ridge.
5) A cold front is moving north of 39S at 30W and near 36S at 40W.
6) A zone of lighter winds persists between 33S and 34S west of 25W,
between the stationary front and a narrow band of NWílies ahead of the
cold front.
7) New high pressure (1018mb) is ridging east off the Argentinian coast
behind the cold front.

00Z MONDAY (19-JAN-2015):
1) Moderate ESE/E trade winds will extend from about 10S to 20S. The
trades will be a bit patchy and easing with distance south from about
19S.
2) Trades weaken and back E/ENE north of a ridge axis from 30S/20W to
27S/30W to 24S/35W. Between the ridge and Cabo Frio, winds accelerate
NE/NNE, then back NW south of the ridge axis.
3) Stationary front washes out or moves south to 33S, more or less
merging with the cold front which will lie from 37S/15 to 33S/30W to
low pressure (1013mb) near 31S/45W.
4) A high pressure (1018mb) will be moving quickly east along 38S at 35W.
5) The westerlies will be active south of this high along 39S at 30W.
6) Over the course of the day, a strong cold front will be moving
northeast off the Argentinian coast and east, marking a new, northward
surge in the westerlies.

00Z TUESDAY (20-JAN-2015):
1) Eíly trades extend south to a ridge axis lying west to east off Cabo
Frio marking the transition between Eíly trades and developing NW pre-
frontal flow around the southern side of the high pressure ridge.
2) A significant low (985mb) near 47S/37W will have a cold front wrapping
from the low center to just northeast of the Rio de la plate. This
front will lift northeast with time.
3) Building NW pre-frontal winds will extend to 18W at 35S ahead of the
front.
4) Behind the front, winds shift strong SWíly, and will be pushing
northeast to 36S at 35W through the day.

00Z WEDNESDAY (21-JAN-2015):
1) The sub-tropical ridge will continue around 26S at 30W.
2) The ridge will continue to mark the transition between E/NE trades to
the north and N/NW winds to the south.
3) A strong cold front will move north to 35S at 30W and 40S at 18W.
There is a strong NW gradient flow ahead of the front. This flow start
around 30S, but begins to east from west to east as a low pressure
wave moves out along 35S on the front.
4) The St Helena high (1022mb) will be re-positioned to about 32S/2W.
