La flotte progresse en mer d'Alboran dans un régime de vent d'est qui devrait se renforcer aux abords du détroit de Gibraltar. Dans l'ouest du détroit, les vents d'est forts (supérieurs ou égaux à 30 noeuds) devraient permettre une descente rapide aux allures portantes en gagnant dans l'ouest avant de descendre, route au sud-ouest avant de rejoindre les régimes d'alizés.

*** SYNOPSIS ***
00Z FRIDAY (02-JAN-2015):
1)    A multi-center high pressure covers southwest Europe, the southwestern Med, most of the Iberian coast and western Algeria. One high is centered over southwestern France (1038mb). A second high (1039mb) is over central Spain with a third over northern Algeria (1037mb). A high center (1038mb) is also off the west Iberian coast centered near 40N/13W.
2)    A lee side trough of low pressure extends northeast along the Moroccan coast toward Tangier.
3)    A NE/E wind is over the Southwestern Med but is easing under the high pressure ridge between Spain and Algeria.
4)    Moderate Eíly flow is over the Alboran Se and is expected to persist in the gradient between the Spanish high and trough.

00Z SATURDAY (03-JAN-2015):
1)    The multi-centered high pressure will continue across southwest Europe. Primary centers of high pressure will be over central Spain (1039mb), northern Algeria (1039mb) and over the Atlantic west of Portugal (1039mb) near 41N/13W.
2)    A trough of low pressure will persist just off the Moroccan coast from Lanzarote to Gibraltar with little change from today.
3)    Moderate Eíly winds will very gradually ease across the Alboran Sea from east to west.
4)    Eílies will channel through Gibraltar and accelerated downwind of the strait, extending in a solid band of pressure will west to 10W before easing west of there.
5)    The above pattern is relatively static and unchanging, through slow weakening of the high pressure will eventually lead to some easing and backing of the Eíly flow from Alboran, through Gibrlatar, and into the Gulf of Cadiz.

00Z SUNDAY (04-JAN-2015):
1)    High pressure (1039mb) will be centered off the northwest Spanish coast near 42N/12W.
2)    A trough of low pressure continues off the Moroccan coast as the previous days, through it will be weakening through Sunday.
3)    Eíly flow downwind of Gibraltar and across the Gulf of Cadiz will be easing with time. West of about 15W, there will be E veering SE flow around the western periphery of the high pressure to the north.
4)    Further south, there is wide area of anomalous E/SE flow out of northern Africa and across the Canary Island. Winds are fresh, with the winds covering and area south of 32N down to 24N. The exception is areas northeast of Lanzarote where the trough is keeping winds lighter.

00Z MONDAY (05-JAN-2015):
1)    Weak low pressure (1030mb) is likely off Casablanca.
2)    High pressure (1032mb) will be move to north of Madeira near 36N/12W.
3)    A trough of low pressure will be off the African coast northeast of the Cape Verde Islands, extending north to 24N/17W.
4)    Light Nílies between the high and Casablanca low.
5)    The anomalous SE flow across the Canary Island will continue, but weaken and shink in areal coverage.

>>> ALBORAN SEA: Generally E 10-15. Stronger win ds the west and southwestern portion up to 14-18 in spots. Lighter 8-13 remainder of the area, except lighter 5-10 N/NE tending E along the Spanish coast.
>>> GIBRALTAR STRAIT: E 15-20 in the east, increasing to 20-25 with an acceleration zone to 30 possible out of the western Strait.
SEAS: 0.5-1m. Rougher in the Gibraltar Strait where and when wind opposes tide.
WEATHER: Mainly sunny. Some cloud buildup possible in the western Alboran Sea and approaches to Gibraltar.
*** SATURDAY (03-JAN-2015) ***
>>> ALBORAN SEA: Generally E 10-15, except possible stronger closer to Gibraltar. Winds easing over the eastern and central sections through the day, becoming 5-10. Eastern third, tending SE.
>>> GIBRALTAR: E 15-20 in the east, increasing to 20-25 with an acceleration zone to 30 possible out of the western Strait. During the afternoon and into the evening, a slow moderating trend with winds easing 13-17 gusting 20-25 possible.
>>> GULF OF CADIZ: ENE/E 20-30 downwind of Gibraltar. Lighter winds north along the Spanish coast and much lighter south of Larache on the Morrocan coast. The accelerated zone will continue all the way west across the Gulf, but easing to 15-25 in the west.
SEAS: 0.5-1m. Rougher in the Gibraltar Strait where and when wind opposes tide. In the Gulf of Cadiz, waves up to 2-3 in the acceleration zone, decreasing to 1m outside the zone toward the Spanish coast and the Moroccan coast.
WEATHER: Clouds decreasing around Gibraltar. Fine conditions elsewhere.
*** SUNDAY (04-JAN-2015) ***
>>> GIBRALTAR: E 15-20 early morning, easing quickly through the morning and possible becoming SW/W 5-10 in the afternoon/evening.
>>> GULF OF CADIZ: In the early morning, continued NE/E accelerated flow downwind of Gibraltar 20-25 knots close to the strait easing to 15-20 with distance west. However, rapidly easing in the afternoon with a light Síly filling up from the off the Moroccan coast into the Gulf.

WEATHER: Clouds decreasing around Gibraltar. Fine conditions elsewhere.
