Meteo ENE. 23, 2015 06:27

00Z FRIDAY (23-JAN-2015):
1) High pressure (1023mb) near 33S/03E with a ridge extending southeast
to south of South Africa along 37S.
2) Another high pressure ridge extends northwest of the high to 25S/26W.
This is the subtropical ridge extension.
3) A minor low pressure (1018mb) near 26S/32W.
4) High pressure (1027mb) near 39S/46W, ridge east-northeast to 34S/25W.
5) A cold front lies from 41S/00E to 35S/15W to 29S/25W.
6) South of 30S at 30W, generally NW wind east of the cold front,
strongest south of 34S. West of the cold front, winds shift W/SW and
are generally stronger south of 36S.
7) A new low pressure (999mb) is developing near 48S/25W, and moving
quickly east-northeast while strengthening. This will bring a
reinforcing push of SW wind northward behind the low and spread east
toward the Meridian with time.

00Z SATURDAY (24-JAN-2015):
1) Ridging will result in generally lighter winds north of 29S from 33W
to 00E.
2) The South Atlantic high weakens to a ridge and extends from 30S/00E to
south of Cape Town at 37S.
3) A high pressure (1027mb) will move to 40S/40W. The high will move
slowly east-northeast and approach 30W during the afternoon. A renewed
push of SW flow will be south of the high at 43S and moving northeast.
4) A fast-moving low (995mb) will move to 44S/00E gradually getting
absorbed into stronger low pressure at higher latitude. A cold front
will wrap around the low, reaching 37S/12W and then west to 25W. Some
GALE to STORM FORCE SW/S winds will be moving north around the western
side of the low pressure, and behind the cold front.
5) Otherwise, a broad zone of SW/W wind between the low will approach the
Meridian and high pressure ridge off South Africa at 37S.

00Z SUNDAY (25-JAN-2015):
1) High pressure moves to 38S/32W. This high will continue to move slowly
east-northeast or northeast.
2) A deep low pressure (967mb) will be located near 53S/02E. An
associated cold front wraps around the east/northeast quadrant of the
low to 40S/00E and then to 39S/15W.
3) North of the low, W/NW winds extend from the front to 35S. North of
37N, winds are generally SW to 29S. Behind the front, winds are very
strong SW ly.
4) The low/front with its associated wind field will move steadily east,
breaching the ridge south of South Africa, so that W ly winds extend
from Cape Town to 50S.

00Z MONDAY (26-JAN-2015):
1) High pressure (1019mb) will be centered near 34S/21W. This will become
absorbed into the ridge to the north with time, developing a new South
Atlantic high pressure near the Meridian at 34S.
2) Strong low pressure south of 50S will move across the longitude of
Cape Town. Strong NW winds in the northeastern quadrant will shift to
strong W/SW winds in the northwest Quadrant. Winds to Gale Force will
extend to near 38S
3) A low pressure (1005mb) developing off the southeast coast of Brazil
today, will move to 39S/35W. Strong N ly winds will be blowing in the
northeast quadrant of this system.
