The internationally cultural Barcelona World Race
The Barcelona Cultura Foundation and the FNOB are joining forces again for the fourth edition of the Barcelona World Race. The introduction of Sydney as a stopover means that an extra dimension will be added to the programme of initiatives aimed at promoting Barcelona, Mediterranean culture and the sea
The importance of the Barcelona World Race in the socio-cultural fabric of its home city means that it is now part of Barcelona’s heritage itself. With three double-handed round the world regattas under its belt, the BWR is reaffirming its commitment to the culture of transoceanic sailing and its core values. However, for the fourth edition of the race, the Sydney stopover will mean a twinning with the Antipodes, a pioneering initiative in the sporting culture of the city.
The Barcelona Cultura Foundation and the FNOB are collaborating again to design, finance and produce a program of initiatives and activities aimed at bringing the wider population and the world of sailing closer together. At different locations across the city of Barcelona, there will be an opportunity for locals and visitors to find out more about Mediterranean culture and the role of the sea within it.
The Barcelona Cultura Foundation will be designing the programme for these initiatives, which will take place within the framework of the fourth edition of the Barcelona World Race. The brand-new stopover in Sydney will see the launch of a close collaboration between the two cities and both in Barcelona and Sydney there will be cultural activities taking place in the run-up to and alongside the round-the-world regatta.
