One Planet exit the Atlantic Ocean
One Planet One Ocean & Pharmaton has passed the latitude of Tarifa (5°37°W) and entered the Mediterranean Sea at 18h25 UTC (20h25 BCN). The fourth team to cross back into the Med, Aleix Gelabert and Didac Costa arrive back in their home waters 95 days, 6 hours and 25 minutes after leaving Barcelona on December 31, 2014.
Conditions in the Straits are 7-8 knots westerlies with a favourable current, which has seen the pair gybing frequently and their average pace drop over the early evening, although at the 1800hrs (UTC) update they were sailing at just over 9 knots. Fifth placed We Are Water were 62 miles astern, and making around 10 knots boat speed.
Renault Captur also recorded a spot boatspeed of over 9 knots, although their average over the past 24 hours has been under 5 knots. Spirit of Hungary in seventh continue to make solid headway at 9-9.5 knots.
