pressure (1012mb) near 28S/28W. A front extends from the low to
23S/32W to the Brazilian coast near 19S/38W. South of the front there
is a S’ly flow to 30W, where it backs to SE’ly north of the high
pressure ridge and south of the front.
2)    A high pressure ridge lies along 18S from the Brazilian coast east to
29W. A patch of light winds around the ridge. The south Atlantic trade
winds north of the ridge are moderate from the ESE to the southern
doldrums boundary near 05S.
3)    The doldrums continue to be quite wide, with more or less light and
variable winds between 05S and the Equator. There is a light W’ly
return flow within the doldrums east of 30W between 03S and 01S.
4)    North of the Equator, NNE trade winds moderate and in place to 10N.
From 10N to 30N, trades veer NE, except hold fresh and NNE’ly along
the African coast.
5)    High pressure (1032mb) near the Azores with a ridge extending
southwest. Broad low pressure 1000mb is over the Mediterranean Sea
from Palma to Sicily. Fresh to strong N’lies over the Atlantic north
of 30N from 18W to the outer Gulf of Cadiz.
6)    N’lies ease across the Gulf of Cadiz, but back to flow from the W
through Gibraltar Strait. A moderate W’ly of the Alboran Sea to the
southwestern Med.
7)    Fresh NW/N winds along the Spanish coast west of low pressure, with a
developing Mistral out of the Gulf of Lyon toward Palma.
00Z THURSDAY (26-MAR-2015)

to near Rio. West of the ridge axis mainly light to moderate N’ly
winds. East of the Ridge axis SE winds. Winds back SE to E to NE to N
across the ridge axis.

light winds from 18S to 15S. North of 15S, the trade winds will be
present but relatively lgith from the E/SE. Trade will be stronger
west of 30W and lighter SE’ly east of 30W.
3)    The southern doldrums boundary will be near 4S. Light and variable
winds in the doldrums to about 01S or perhaps even to the Equator.
4)    North of the Equator, moderate NNE winds building with distance north
and veering NE around 12N.
5)    Moderate NE/ENE trades from 13N to 27N, veering with distance north
and stronger (fresh) east of about 26W.
6)    High pressure (1029mb) near 37N/21W. This hich will support strong
N’lies east of 12W, spread south down to the Canary Islands.
7)    Over the Med, low pressure (999mb) over Tunisia and Sardinia (1003mb).
There will be a Mistral developing out of the Gulf of Lyon with strong
winds extending from there south to waters east of Palma. Along the
Spanish coast, local areas of stronger N/NW winds are likely,
especially out of favored valleys in a NW gradient.

ahead of the front to 30S. Fresh to strong W/SW winds south of the

north of the ridge to the edge of a light and variable wind zone
between 19S and 17S.
3)    North of 17S, e/SE trade winds extend north of 04S.
4)    The doldrums rapidly shrinking 03S to 01S. Some light winds will
persist within the doldrums, but there will be some calm patches,
especially between 03S and 02S.

moderate to 09N. Generally stronger winds west of 30W.
