Anna Corbella (GAES Centros Auditivos):
Last night, while the boat was fighting against the waves and the wind, I tried to identify all the noises in the boat:
"BUM, BUM; BUM" on the background, the sound of the hull falling on the waves; "SHHHHH, SHHHHHH, SHHHHH" the water passing through the hull; "YYYYY" in the surfs, the same as a wheel of a car screeching. "CLACK; CLACK, CLACK", the sheets and ropes running on deck, whipping; "NYIGO, NYIGO, NYIGO" the ropes in tension and some piece; "FFIUUUUUUUU; FIUUUUUU, FIUUUUUU" the wind whistling among the rigging; "PATAPAM!" bilge slam.
The wind, the waves, the boat, whistles, creaks... Though the sounds and noises collection on board GAES Centros Auditivos is very large, you end up identifying each of them. The problem is when, suddenly, you hear a new one. That may mean that a problem has come up, and as small as it might be, in this conditions it can become a big problem. Hence the importance of having a good hearing health. Today is the International Day of Hearing, and if you want to take care of your hearing, I can recommend a place ;)
Greetings for GAES Centros Auditivos
