Another Day in the Office
Didac Costa (One Planet, One Ocean & Pharmaton)
Since we left the doldrums we are installed in a certain routine: every day is similar to the day before.
It is very sweltering and the heat is intense. Only from midday on, when the sun hides behind the foresail we dare to go out on deck.
We don't do more than one or two sail changes a day, whenever there is a squall during the night. Squalls last short and make us gain 2 or 3 knots of boat speed, but you have to be cautious and conservative and reduce the sail area in time.
For the rest, it is quiet and pleasant sailing -with moderate wind and good seas-so much so that sometimes we even forget we are racing!
We spend the day trimming the sails, making small repairs, controlling the scientific kit we carry on board and studying the meteorology and the strategy for the next days, besides eating and resting.
A normal day at the office...
Mañana, ¡otra vez!
