Things that go bump, and slam, on Hugo Boss.

“Did you feel the bump?” Andy, asks on the watch change. We passed the equator and are now back in the northern hemisphere. Autumn has turned into spring and the water in the sink will now spin the other way?! I know at least the latter is but a fairy tale, and I don’t think the first one is true either, but will leave that to the Facebook forum to get sorted out. In any case, we are slowly making our way through the Doldrums and hope to reach the NE trades later today.

This will be good and bad news, as yes, winds will increase and we won’t have to deal with the light winds and the massive clouds anymore, but it also means the start of a very bumpy week of upwind sailing, Good thing I got another shave in yesterday, so I don’t have to worry about cutting myself! Ocean racing is all about planning and thinking ahead, and getting the beard trimmed definetly needs some planning!

With the crossing of the equator, more than ever do I feel that we are on the home stretch. Another milestone passed, another day closer to completing a duo-handed circum navigation. Just have to tick those last couple of thousand miles off. Piece of cake if you look at our complete track around the world. A good thing about only being with two: At this stage in the race on a fully crewed boat everybody would be longing for the finish, and it would be two weeks of non-stop children’s backseat yepping “Are we there yet?” Here Andy can have a look for himself!
