00Z WEDNESDAY (14-JAN-2015):
1) North of the doldrums, trade winds light-moderate NNE at 20W
increasing moderate NE at 30W.
2) The doldrums has been shifting south once again. The northern boundary
is near 3N/30W - 4N/25W at 5N/20W. The southern boundary will move
north to 1N to 2N.
3) Within the doldrums, light and variable conditions east of 25W.
Otherwise ENE tending E west of 25W. The zone is narrower with
stronger cross-flow west of 27W. East of 25W, light and variable winds
will be between 2N and 4N. This light patch will spread west to 28W
through the day.
4) South of the doldrums, light moderate ESE trade winds from 1N to 5S.
5) Moderate ESE/SE trades 5S to 10S.
6) Between 10S and 22S, mainly moderate ESE trade winds in the zone
between 25W and 35W. Note winds are more SE east of 25W and more ESE/E
west of 30W.
7) The South Atlantic high (1022mb) is near 28S/28W with a ridge
extending east of the high center along 27S.
8) A cold front is moving north and east west of 38W and south of 32S.
There is a monsoon trough extending off the southern Brazilian coast
to the western end of the front.

00Z THURSDAY (15-JAN-2015):
1) Northern doldrums boundary will be shifting south to around 3N.
Doldrums will be wider with lighter and more variable winds east of
27W. West of 27W, light NE/E increasing to light-moderate at 30W.
2) The southern doldrums boundary will be near 1N.
3) South of the Equator, ESE veering SE south of 2S.
4) A moderate to fresh ESE trade wind will be west of 27W to 5S. South
and east of 27W, winds will veer more SE’ly.
5) South of 10N, steady ESE trades, mainly moderate in strength. Some
patches of randomly spaced lighter and stronger breeze, likely
associated with areas of more enhanced trade wind cumulus development.
6) South of 20S, winds tending much lighter 30W to 35W.
7) The South Atlantic high (1022mb) will be near 27S/30W, shiftin east
with time but holding a ridge west of 30W.
8) A deep low (992mb) will be near 38S/41W, with a cold front northwest
to near Florianopolis, moving northwest. A broad zone of fresh to
strong N’ly will be in place from off Cabo Frio, south, ahead of the
cold front.
9) This low will boe moving southeast, and the front northeast. However,
the front will stall near or south of 30S for the most part. There
will be a band of stronger N/NE winds from off Vila Velha extending
south as a pre-frontal band.

00Z FRIDAY (16-JAN-2015):
1) The doldrums will be expanding and shifting south. Very light winds
are expected to develop between 2N and 2S, along with more widespread
showers and thunderstorms possible.
2) South of 2S, winds generally E/ESE all the way south to 20S. Winds
will back more E/ENE west of 35W and E/ESE east of 25W, especially
south of 13S.
3) High pressure (1022mb) will be near 28S/25W, elongating west to east
between 25S/34W and 28S/9W. West of the high pressure, winds back NE
to N to set up pre-frontal gradient ahead of a cold front and off Cabo
Frio. The front will extend from near Paranagua southeast to 30S/40W
and 32S/30W. Winds between the front and southern side of the high
pressure will be mainly moderate NW.
4) The front will be stationary or shifting south with time.

00Z SATURDAY (17-JAN-2015):
1) Little change in the SE/ESE trade winds from the Doldrums, south.
There will belighter E’ly winds now over the waters south of the
doldrums to about 5S. The ESE/SE trades will be well established south
of 5S.
2) From 5S to 20 south between Brazil and 25W, moderate ESE tending E
with distance south.
3) Pressure may be a bit more favorable in a zone around 12S/30W.
4) High pressure (1022mb) will be centered near 28S/24W. A ridge will
extend west of the high to near 25S/33W. This ridge axis marks the
shift from E/NE trades to the north, to N/NW pre-frontal winds to the
south.
5) A zone of accelerated NE flow is expected to persist south and east of
Cabo Frio.
6) The proper westerlies will be making a move north south of 40S and
southeast of the high pressure.
